The Story of the BIG GREEN O and how it came to be..
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there lived a giant by the name of Beothe the Green. He was a friendly giant, as far as giants go, and Beothe lived waaay up over the hill. Past the grove of pine trees where the lost owl looks for his hoot. Beyond the other side of the “gets dark early” valley, and right up to the edge of the meadow where we went that one time a few summers ago but you probably don’t remember because you slept the whole way.
Anyway,Beothe the Green, because he was such a friendly giant, as far as giants go, searched all day with lost owl who looked for his hoot in the grove of pines. Finally, after many hours of wandering among the pines, lost owl and Beothe the Green stopped to rest in the “gets dark early” valley, but while it was still light and before the sun had set just past half day on this side of the waaayup over the hill. Wouldn’t you know it, lost owl flew into the sun just before it set and found his hoot on the dangle of a sunbeam. Tho it was a wrangle, lost owl lassoed his hoot and happily flew home.
.
“I must sleep a bit,”Beothe the Green said to no one in particular as he walked to the edge of the meadow where we went that one time a few summers ago but you probably don’t remember because you slept the whole way. And there Beothe the Green slept. And he slept. And he slept. Until finally he awoke when it was already night. The real night and not just the dark from the “gets dark early” valley. It was real night time.
.
Beothe the Green was still half asleep and he hardly remembered that lost owl DID find his hoot, so he had forgotten that owl happily flew home. Not wanting to leave his friend behind, because Beothe the Green was a friendly giant, as far as giants go, he called for lost owl with the new-found hoot, “Where did you GO?” (Quiet) “Where did you GOOOOOO?”
.
The “OOOOO” rang through the meadow where we went that one time a few summers ago but you probably don’t remember because you slept the whole way. Beyond the other side of the “gets dark early” valley. The “O’ rang past the grove of pine trees where the lost owl used to look for his hoot. And waaay up over the hill to where this story once began in a land far far away.
.
And what’s with the big Green O? Legend has it that Beothe the Green yelled so loudly for his friend that night, that he shook loose a part of this great green earth and it circled in the O where it then came to be….
